
Cryptic Mantis
Sibylla pretiosa, also known as the cryptic mantis, is a small species found in Southern Africa. reaching only 2-2.5 inches long with leaf like wings and leaf like femoral projections on their legs. They live around woodlands hiding on the tree barks using their camouflages to hide from predators and wait for prey
This species eats almost exclusively flying insects.


Feeding
Flying insects are the preferred source of food. As nymphs fruit flies are the ideal food source and increase to house flies and blue/green bottle flies as they get larger. They also will enjoy moths or other harmless flying insects. It’s recommended that the size of the feeder insect does not exceed 1/2 the mantis length.
This species almost exclusively eats flying insects.
